Dali Spektor 6 C Pack

DALI SPEKTOR 6

Built around two 6½” woofers and a 25 mm soft dome tweeter, this large floorstanding speaker is the power-house of the SPEKTOR family. Serving up a detailed, dynamic and powerful audio reproduction, they are the perfect choice for any stereo or surround setup.

WOOD FIBRE CONES Our low-loss drivers uses a mix of low-mass paper cones with wood fibre reinforcement. The embedded wood fibres give the surface an uneven structure, which dramatically minimizes the resonance of the surface. This creates the best possible reproduction of every detail in the audio signal.
AMPLIFIER FRIENDLY The amplifier friendly design makes the SPEKTOR series a perfect fit for almost any of the amplifiers in its price category. No matter if we look at compact Hi-Fi, stereo amplifiers or surround receivers, SPEKTOR will bring out the best in them, showing you just how good music and movies can sound.
SOFT DOME TWEETER The dome tweeter offers best-in-class resolution with an extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low coloration. A clear heritage from our high-end series. The tweeter is based on an ultra-lightweight weaved fabric, which weighs less than half of the market standard (0.056 mg/mm2).
LOW SIGNAL LOSS By using only DALI designed and custom-built drivers, the need for frequency correction in the crossover is eliminated. This enables us to design an exact crossover which together with carefully selected quality components ensures that the signal loss is close to zero.

PRODUCT DETAILS

The DALI SPEKTOR 6 is the power-house of the SPEKTOR family. Getting this much Hi-Fi performance from a speaker in this price range not only took all of our experience and know-how, but also hours and hours spent in the listening room, improving the driver and crossover designs to create the perfect audio performance.

If you are looking for affordable floorstanding speakers, which delivers a punch, the SPEKTOR 6 is the perfect match for you. They are serving up a detailed, dynamic and powerful audio reproduction and are the perfect choice for any stereo or surround setup in combination with either the SPEKTOR 1 or SPEKTOR 2 compact speakers.

The DALI SPEKTOR 6, like all DALI loudspeakers, has been designed in accordance with our fundamental acoustic and electro-acoustic principles, and a strong belief that clarity and an authentic, honest sound reproduction will get you even closer to the full impact of a live music experience.

WIDE DISPERSION

DALI makes it easy to integrate your loudspeakers into any room. Both the driver materials and geometry applied in the SPEKTOR 6 have been selected to achieve a wide dispersion pattern.

You will experience a well-integrated sound, even when listening significantly off-axis. And, as you are often not seated directly in front of the loudspeaker when listening to music, this is important.

Optimizing the audio signal for off-axis distribution results in the signal reaching your ear directly and the signal reflected off the room surfaces, to have a coherent balance. This means a consistent high sound quality across a much wider listening area. At the same time, it offers greater freedom and flexibility in positioning the loudspeakers.

An added benefit is hugely reduced harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion, as these will always be stronger in an on-axis response. This is also the reason why all DALI speakers are not designed for toeing-in.

TWEETER

The SPEKTOR 6 tweeter is able to render high frequencies with high accuracy. This means very short excursions, but at high speed, - or rather – with high acceleration. In other words, it features a low moving mass and a strong motor.

The tweeter used in the SPEKTOR 6 is based on an ultra-light weight weaved fabric. Compared to most soft dome tweeters in the market, the DALI dome material is less than half the weight; 0.056 mg per mm2.

The beauty of the soft dome tweeter is its impressive ability to play even the lowest parts of the high frequency range without any break-ups. This is crucial when handling the all important hand-over from the woofer to the tweeter. Not having to push either the woofer or tweeter beyond what they do best results in a seamless transition and preservation of every detail in the mid-range frequencies.

WOOFER

The SPEKTOR 6 sound signature is build around two 6,5” woofers, which are developed specifically for this speaker. Even small details like the angle of the wood fibre cone and the size of the dust cap is optimized for the best possible integration, dispersion and performance in the SPEKTOR 6.

The wood fibre cones are a DALI trademark, as well as a proven DALI technology. The SPEKTOR 6 cone membranes are crafted from a mix of fine grained paper and wood fibre pulp. This makes the cones very ridged, very light weight and the unevenness in the structure of the membrane helps minimize unwanted surface resonances.

Combining the well-behaving wood fibre cone with the low-loss rubber surround and spider suspension results in the reproduction of even the smallest micro-detail in the signal – unfiltered and with high accuracy.

The structure of the chassis was designed for optimal strength and airflow. Keeping the woofer structure strong eliminates internal vibrations and the optimised airflow around the cone area keeps movements unhindered, resulting in the ability to transform as much of the energy from the amplifier into movement.

LOW LOSS

The primary function of any loudspeaker is to convert the electrical signal from the amplifier into a realistic audio experience in the listening room. Any distortion or coloration of the original signal by drivers or enclosures is by definition a degradation of the sound.

Clarity in an audio signal is obtained by low loss of information in combination with creating a smooth and seamless reproduction in both the time and frequency domain.

By using only DALI designed and custom-built drivers, the need for frequency correction in the crossover is eliminated. This enables us to design an exact crossover out of quality components which ensures that the signal loss is close to zero.
Another fundamental is the lowering of mechanical distortion. This to make sure that the connected amplifier will not be exposed to a larger than necessary challenge, causing loss of detail in the signal even before it has the chance to reach the loudspeaker.

Through very low mechanical loss, the most fragile sound details, even at very low listening levels, are preserved. This is the only way to obtain the sensation of ultimate transparency and “liveliness” from reproduced loudspeaker sound.

DALI PHANTOM E-50

The DALI PHANTOM E-50 in-ceiling speaker delivers an incredible clear and well-defined audio experience, and impresses with the level of bass it can produce, despite its size. The E-50 is equipped with a 5.25" woofer and designed for optimum in-ceiling use, but can also be mounted in-wall.

EASY INSTALLATION The dogleg mounting system makes the install process an easy one-step action simply by tightning the dedicated screws to swing out the dogleg brackets.
INVISIBLE DESIGN The very thin magnetic front grilles integrates almost seamlessly into any home environment.
FLEXIBILITY IN FUNCTION The PHANTOM E-series are easy to place anywhere in any room, and will even work perfectly off-axis in challenging situations and environments due to two audio settings used for adjusting the performance of the speaker.
WIDE DISPERSION All DALI speakers are designed around the principle of wide dispersion. This entails an off-axis optimisation of the audio reproduction. The technology is perfect for use with install speakers, since they are always mounted flush against either a wall or ceiling.

PRODUCT DETAILS

This compact in-ceiling loudspeaker delivers an incredible clear and well-defined audio experience, and impresses with the level of bass it can produce, despite its size. The size makes it perfect for a stereo setup in a small room, or as rear loudspeakers in a larger room in a surround setup.

The PHANTOM E series
The DALI PHANTOM E-50 is designed for optimum in-ceiling use, but will also work if mounted in-wall. It is all about true hi-fi sound, versatility, and flexibility. The compact sized construction and the easy-to-use compass positioning system makes placing the speaker for the optimum sound experience very straight forward. Two discreet switches offer audio adjustment options to ensure that the listener gets the most from the speakers, even in rooms that traditionally are difficult.

The tilted woofer and the slightly of centre soft dome tweeter, blends gracefully and produces a richly detailed and crisp soundstage. The polypropylene cone is more resilient towards humidity than the traditional DALI cone material – wood fibre, making the PHANTOM E-50 flexible in regards to placements in covered outdoor areas and bathrooms.
Optionally, the PHANTOM E-50 can be fitted with a square front grill.

DESIGN

The PHANTOM E-50 introduces improvements to the basic design of the front baffle by adding extra thickness to the outer edges for a tighter and more secure fit against the mounting area. This also helps the overall strength and rigidity of the speaker.

The dogleg mounting system makes the install process an easy one step action. Simply insert the PHANTOM E-50 in the prepared mounting area, and from the front of the speaker tighten the dedicated screws to swing out the dogleg brackets and tighten them against the back of the mounting surface. If the mounting surface is extra thick reversing the dogleg makes it possible to expand the mounting grip to 70mm.

The PHANTOM E-50 front grilles have been updated to meet the style demands of the install customer. The new sleek design helps the speaker integrate perfectly into the surroundings.

CROSSOVER

Every component in the crossover is carefully selected for their audiophile quality and the crossover in the PHANTOM E-50 is designed especially for this model.

The PHANTOM E-50 includes PTC (Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient device) safety function. This safeguards the driver components from overheating if played at very loud volumes over a long period. Install speakers are often played to fill more than just the room they are mounted in, so If the listener is in another room the volume can accidently be turned up to extremely high levels, and therefore permanently damage the speakers. The PTC system will prevent this for happening, since it acts like a fuse if the current get to high.

All internal wiring is optimized for the speaker design and is placed and secured to eliminate the possibility of rattling. The terminals are placed directly on the crossover for the shortest possible signal path, and the spring loaded grip ensures the best possible long lasting connection to the speaker wire.

TWEETER

The 25mm soft dome tweeter module in the PHANTOM E-50 is fixed over the woofer in a composite housing mounted on an airplane-wingprofile wishbone bracket. By mounting the tweeter over the woofer the total foot print of the speaker is keep at a minimum.

The aerodynamic design of the wing and the slightly of centre placement of the tweeter help eliminate the “coaxial colouration” normally associated with coaxial drivers. The positioning also help the mid-range and low frequencies blend gracefully with high frequencies for a precise and natural overall performance even at high sound pressures.

The compass rose on the outer edge help direct the speaker for optimum sound stage.

WOOFER

Flexibility was important when designing the PHANTOM E-50, and the ability to use the speaker in areas not fit for traditional DALI speakers was a large part of this. To ensure the best balance between durability and great audio reproduction polypropylene was chosen for the cone material.

The woofer is tilted and angled for improved directionality and sound staging. The cone, surround and magnet motor system is designed according to the DALI low-loss principles. This makes the PHANTOM E-50 an easy speaker to drive, and even smaller amplifiers will be able to deliver a high quality audio experience with the PHANTOM E-50.

WIDE DISPERSION

All DALI speakers are designed around the principle of wide dispersion. This entails an off-axis optimisation of the audio reproduction. The off-axis optimisation helps deliver the music or movie audio to the larges possible part of the room. This technology is perfect for use with install speakers, since they are always mounted flush against either a wall or a ceiling. Working with the off-axis optimisation ensures that the listener will have a large sweet spot there the soundstage is perfect, but also that the sound received when away from the sweet spot is still of a very high quality.

The PHANTOM E-50 has two audio settings that can be used to adjust the performance of the speaker. Focus/Distribute: This toggle enables the tweeter module to disperse the high frequencies better. If the normal listing position is close to the speaker, no more than 25 degrees off-axis, the Focus setting should be used for the best possible experience. If, on the other hand, the normal listing position is beyond 25 degrees off-axis, the Distribute setting can be engaged to help the tweeter disperse the high frequency father. This will improve the audio experience at odd angles in the room.

Normal/HF Tilt: When placing two speakers at a great distance from each other, creating a good soundstage can be difficult to achieve. To improve the audio experience under these conditions, DALI has included the possibility to add an extra 3dB to the high frequency output, to enable the sound to travel further. In many cases, this will help deliver a better soundstage even under extreme conditions.

DALI SUB C-8 D

Unlike some subwoofers the DALI SUB C-8 D has been engineered to perform equally well on both music and movies. It is very important to us that a subwoofer can render a performance true to the input signal. Though featuring a 8” down-firing woofer, the SUB C-8 D is everything but a ‘boombox’.

HIGH-YIELD AMPLIFIER All amplifiers in DALI subwoofers have the stamina to keep a high-yield performance and the headroom to draw out that little extra when needed.
FLEXIBLE CONNECTIVITY All DALI subwoofers are compatible with almost any amplifier, receiver or processor due to the choice of LFE or LINE inputs.
ELEGANT AND SIMPLE DESIGN The cabinet is designed to fit perfectly to the size of the woofer, but without forgoing the inner volume that is needed to produce a powerful bass performance.

PRODUCT DETAILS

Unlike some subwoofers the DALI SUB C-8 D has been engineered to perform equally well with both music and movies. It is very important to us that a subwoofer can render a performance true to the input signal. Therefore a DALI subwoofer is everything but a ‘boombox’.

Placing a subwoofer is a very large part of creating the perfect audio reproduction. We recommend placing the SUB C-8 D in a corner or if that is not possible alongside a wall. This will maximise the bass output and the distribution around the room. The compact size of the SUB C-8 D makes placing it correctly much easier than many larger subwoofers. DALI recommend using the SUB C-8 D with the ZENSOR and SPEKTOR series.

Over the years our engineers have developed a set of sound design principles. Today these are applied in the creation of any DALI speaker. Naturally our subwoofers must be able to enter into any setup without sacrificing the purpose of providing wide dispersion, time coherence and low-loss performance. Therefore the DALI SUB C-8 D will feel equally at home in a movie focused surround setup as well as a compact stereo setup meant for mainly musical enjoyment.

AMPLIFIER

The integrated 170 Watt RMS Class D amplifier is a highly linear construction. The DALI SUB C-8 D will follow and render the required signal with an absolute minimum of bias. Designed not only for continuous power, but also for peak performances, the SUB C-8 D is able to deliver 220 Watt Peak Power. This is very relevant when it comes to both movie and music signals.

To improve sound reproduction and to ensure performance under difficult circumstances, a limiter has been incorporated in the amplifier section. The integrated limiter works in two areas: It compares the input signal amplitude to the potential output signal level, and it compares the available supply voltage from the power supply to the expected output signal. If any of these comparisons show potential problem, the limiter will cut the signal in a soft manner and without affecting peak power.

Fitted with controls for gain, cut-off frequency, and phase, the DALI SUB C-8 D will adapt to any front speaker and room acoustics. And with a choice of LFE and LINE inputs it can be connected to almost any amplifier, receiver or processor.

The switch mode power supply is part of the reason for very low power consumption - only 0.4 Watt in standby mode. And the amplifier displays an impressive efficiency of 70%. In unison the high-efficiency amplifier section and power supply construction generate an absolute minimum of heat loss. For that reason you will find no external heat sink on the SUB C-8 D.

WOOFER

DALI SUB C-8 D is equipped with an 8” down-firing woofer. The cone is constructed from high-quality paper pulp resulting in a rigid cone with excellent breakup characteristics while at the same time being very lightweight and agile.

The woofer engine is built around an ‘over-sized’ ferrite magnet and optimised for maximum flux within the voice coil gap. It was crucial for our project team to enable the SUB C-8 D to render the finer low frequency details in music - also at high sound pressure levels. The measured values indicate that we reached a level of control and precision that is rarely to be found in this category at all. And the numerous listening sessions has truly convinced us that this was the right way to go.

The voice coil is 26.5 mm long and built for long excursions. It is vented to ensure air-cooling to the system and the benefit is a stable impedance response. The pole piece is likewise vented for maximum cooling, and here the venting also reduces internal compression in the motor system. This ensures free movement of the cone without any over/under pressure affecting the performance.

Adhering to the low-loss sound design principle, the surround of the woofer is built to allow long and linear excursion. The over-sized suspension is designed to allow both weak and strong transients to turn into undistorted acoustic signals.

CABINET

The solid MDF cabinet is designed and manufactured to meet the tough DALI specifications. The enclosure comes in a choice of Black Ash or White finish, making it blend in perfectly with most speaker designs and room decors.

The entire cabinet is effectively decoupled from the floor by means of four polymer based oversized spikes. Appearing to hover above the floor the distance of 30 mm eliminates any potential turbulence from the space between the cabinet and the floor itself. Still, the proximity to the floor ensures that the benefit of having a down-firing subwoofer is maintained; a higher efficiency and more freedom in positioning.
