XLR/TRS inputs support external shotgun microphones, while improved clock accuracy, a slate tone for audio-video sync, and a 3.5 mm stereo line output help take your video production to the next level.
Compact and portable, the DR-40XP offers up to 18 hours of battery life with built-in microphones that handle up to 125 dB SPL, capturing everything from subtle birdsong to loud aircraft and vehicle noise. With 32-bit float / 96 kHz recording, it delivers clean, distortion-free audio, while dual external inputs with +48 V phantom power support flexible, professional field recording setups.
Equipped with TASCAM’s HDDA microphone preamps, the DR-40XP features external XLR/TRS combo inputs with an EIN of –126 dB, delivering exceptionally clear, low-noise audio performance.
With 32-bit float recording, your audio stays clean, detailed, and free from distortion—without the need to worry about input level settings. Multiple recording formats are supported, including 32-bit float, 24-bit, and 16-bit WAV at 96 kHz, 48 kHz, or 44.1 kHz, as well as MP3.
The DR-40XP is equipped with RF-resistant unidirectional stereo condenser microphones supporting A-B and X-Y stereo configurations, enabling accurate and faithful sound capture across a wide range of applications. Ideal for recording electric guitar, piano, vocals, drums, and full band performances, as well as field recordings such as ocean waves, birdsongs, vehicle sounds, and interviews.
Equipped with XLR/TRS combo jacks that support +48 V phantom power for external stereo microphones, as well as stereo line-level inputs (up to +24 dBu).

Orders placed though the Amber Technology website are despatched from our Sydney warehouse. Orders placed before 1.00pm Sydney time (for items in stock) will generally be shipped on the same day.
We ship using Startrack Express. We deliver Australia-wide to residential, business and PO box addresses.
Shipping is free for all orders over $1100 including GST (effective 1 April 2026). There is a $33 (including GST) shipping and handling charge for all orders under $1100 including GST.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
All items purchased from Amber Technology will be covered under warranty. The duration and terms of this warranty are specified by the manufacturer unless otherwise stated. Warranty information is available on the individual product listings on this site.
Refurbished items will include a 12 month warranty unless otherwise stated.Please contact us if you have received an item which has been damaged in transit or is otherwise not working correctly when you receive it. Amber Technology maintains a nation-wide network of carefully selected Authorised Service Agents to ensure that you are never far from convenient, expert technical and service support. If your item develops a problem and requires servicing under warranty, please contact your local Authorised Service Agent.
The availability of stock is communicated via the indicator of each product listing page. "Available" means that reasonable stock is in our warehouse, ready for immediate shipment. "Limited Stock" means that we have only a small number of items in stock. "Out of Stock" means this item is currently unavailable for immediate shipment - orders placed for ‘Out of Stock’ items will be fulfilled as soon as replacement stock arrives.
"Special Order” items are products that are not generally kept in stock in Australia. Lead times for Special Order items vary depending on country of origin, manufacturer’s stock levels, factory production schedules and/or incoming shipment transit times. Please contact us for an estimate as to the likely lead time. Please note that finalized sales for special order items cannot be cancelled.
